On 30 July 1959, founding member Cyril Atkinson wrote to interested collectors to ascertain their interest in the forming of an Antique Firearms Association. Luckily one of the other foundation members preserved these items so that we can enjoy the history created.

This was followed up with an invitation to an inaugural meeting at the T & g Building at 7.30pm on Saturday 19 September 1959.
